The story of Cool2Care

The story of Cool2Care starts with boy named Shaun.

Shaun was born in Japan in the spring of 1998, when the cherry blossom flowered. Within a few months it became clear he had physical and learning disabilities, with his sight, coordination, balance, muscle strength and learning all affected. His mum and dad worked hard for several years to get a diagnosis and learned the hard way that this would affect the whole family for the rest of their lives.

Stress took its toll, and Shaun's parents - Phil & Keiko - realised they needed help if they were to be able to keep their family going. They searched for two years to find someone to help look after Shaun and their second son Adam. Finally they found someone they liked and trusted - and she is still helping the family to this day.

Phil was determined that other families should get the support they needed. He decided to take an assignment away from his job with IBM, and started Cool2Care in late 2007. Cool2Care's vision is to show everyone that working with disabled children brings joys and rewards. We want families to be well supported so they can enjoy life, and their children can thrive safely with friends and happy activity.
